Greatness - a reflection

God made us for greatness. We feel that desire within our ourselves too. But we also sometimes question the meaning and purpose of our daily grind.

Can we believe that our lives, unspectacular in our own sight, can have infinite worth? We know that the answer is affirmative from our Blessed Mother. Our Mother cooked, washed and did the very mundane things that all mothers do.

The secret is her total openness to God, effecting a union with Him that her most insignificant task produces great spiritual fruitfulness.

It is less about the kind of work done but more about the freedom she gave God to act in her heart, allowing His Presence to permeate through her actions. St. Thérèse of Lisieux expressed a similar thought: to pick up a pin out of love of God can save souls.

Although without spectacular deeds, our Mother was raised to be the Queen of Heaven. We ask that God continues to enlighten the eyes of our minds so that we can see what great hope His call holds for us.

Queen of All Saints, pray for us!
