Soul’s Bath - a reflection

“Confession is the soul's bath” - St. Pio

We have all encountered situations where we knew what we ought to do, yet our entire being rebelled against it. The persistent question, “Why should I?”, creates inner conflict, pulling our minds and hearts in different directions, causing considerable suffering to us and to those around us.

We hope for greater self-mastery, to unify our scattered minds and hearts with God’s will, which promises true peace. At times, we struggle with the inertia that hinders our relationship with God.

A powerful remedy for this spiritual struggle is the Sacrament of Penance.

St. Pio was a gifted confessor. Incredible accounts, both online and in print, reveal an insightful confessor who spared nothing to guide penitents back to God, rescuing some from eternal separation from Him. He often endured significant attacks from the devil for his work.

Many left the confessional at peace and reinvigorated in their commitment to God. St. Pio’s life and ministry demonstrate the power of the Sacrament of Penance and the ongoing spiritual battle for souls.

As we journey through Advent and beyond, we hope to embrace the Sacrament of Penance frequently for healing and renewal, thanking God for the gift of our priests.

St. Pio, pray for us!
