The Story of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel dates back to the 12th century when hermits founded the Carmelite Order on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land. In 1251, Mother Mary appeared to St. Simon Stock, the leader of the Carmelites in England. She gave him a brown scapular and told him that anyone who wore it in faith would receive divine protection. Our Lady of Mount Carmel’s feast day is on 16 July.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us!
